I read treespotter's blog where he mentioned Edwin, which reminded me that I haven't checked the winners of Tiger Awards. So I went to IFFR wesite and to my surprise, I actually did see one of the winners. (Unfortunately, I missed Edwin's Blind Pig Who Wants to Fly that also won prestigious International Critics' Prize)

Wrong Rosary is a story of a muadzin (person who call for prayer in mosque) who fell in love with his neighbour nun. My first impression when reading the storyline, pardon me, was Ayat-ayat Cinta. Of course it's not the same, even quite the opposite (and I actually haven't seen Ayat-ayat Cinta either). But still I was curious.

My impression after seeing it was, what the Jury grandly called "a film that stays true to itself from beginning to end", its naiveté (yea... I also admit that I just want to use that word). I enjoyed, but also somehow was annoyed by it. I felt that the director wanted to say too much, but maybe I got that impression because he said something like, "If you don't believe in love, I hope you will after seeing this movie."

I didn't feel any changes at all, but that's another thing :D

True that it is modest and beautiful. And it's up to you whether you want to put religion into the equation or not. I like the dialogue when the muadzin told the imam that he was thinking of (marrying) a girl and the imam asked whether the girl was religious or not, and he said, "Yes, very."

And my heart was touched when hearing the sound of adzan, but that's also another thing :)

I don't know if being funny is my thing, but it's sure is one of the things I like. I like comedy. I like laughing and I like making people laugh. Heck, I even listed comedy writing in my 43things.

The other day I had a chat with Mumun about how guys perceive funny girls. Well, it started with a Ben Stiller movie (I don't know which one—Munc, can you help me out here?), so it's not exactly scientific. But in that movie, it was said that, funny girls are... ~~boyish~~ masculine.

Doesn't make sense? I give you two words. Ugh, one name, actually.

Ellen DeGeneres.

I just start watching 30 Rock. I like it. Alec Baldwin is hilariously funny, although I saw him doing more or less the same bit in Friends and Will & Grace (wait, have I ever seen Alec Baldwin somewhere else?). And of course Tina Fey is great. And it's based on SNL backstage, you know, the show that I want to be a part of (yeah, Ran, dream on...)

I landed on season 1, episode 3. Hmpf. Waddayaknow...

Liz: So what are you saying, Pete? I should just be a lesbian?
Pete: Well, I'm not saying it'll be easy. You know, get drunk first.

Kemarin dapat surat-e ini. Gue salin-tempel kecuali nama pengirimnya.

Berita di koran pagi ini, polling* kursi PVV geert wilders adalah 23 kursi. Menjadi partai politiek terbesar ke-3 setelah CDA dan PVDA.

Banyak yg tidak mengira kan..

Salah satu agenda PVV adalah mengubah UUD yg menyatakan semua wn mempunyai hak yg untuk beribadah sesuai kepercayaannya. Wilders ingin mengubah UU hanya untuk umat kristen-yahudi dan humanis. Islam kemana ? islam menurut wilders tidak digolongkan sebagai agama, ttp sebagai idiologi yg berbahaya. Dan pengikutnya dianggap berbahaya jg buat negara.

Orang2 di belanda sudah mulai berpikir dan siap2 bahwa PVV akan berkoalisi di pemerintahan dg partai lainnya. yg berarti bisa jadi wilders jd PM dan memilih orang2nya jd mentri. Jk ini terjadi, benar2 kabar buruk buat muslim di belanda. Krn wilders ingin minder islam : no mesjid, no jagal halal, no school moslem, no hijab, no muslim (wilders sudah pernah bilang,bagi yg 2 paspor baca : marokko or turki dideportasi), no ambternaar/polisi/anggota parlement muslim. Baca : benar2 akan memperlakukan muslim sbg warga kelas 2 di belanda dan tidak boleh ini itu ini itu.

Bagi yg pemegang izin tinggal (MVV) di belanda jg bakalan sulit or yg akan tinggal di belanda. Krn akan diliat latar belakang, dr negara mana, dll dll.krn wilders akan menutup imigrasi dr negara muslim.

Pemeriksaan ulang untuk wilders krn dianggap penghinaan thd islam (dilakukan tidak hanya oleh organisasi muslim ttp oleh advocaat beken belanda spong dan lucas) hanya menambah popularitasnya.

Ini sekedar info, untuk meliat sikon politiek di eblanda yg sesungguhnya. Skrg ini sikon politiek bener2 memprihatinkan untuk muslim di belanda.

Yang pertama kepikiran sama gue, kok ada ya hari gini orang yang pikirannya cupet seperti itu? Tapi setelah gue pikir-pikir lagi, Wilders itu politikus. Dia jualan. Mungkin dia benar-benar mempercayai apa yang dia omongkan, tapi gue yakin bahwa lebih dari itu, dia percaya bahwa itu adalah bahan jualan yang bagus.

Dan dia benar. Orang-orang membeli.

Hmpf.
