What if our understanding of life, the universe and everything is wrong? What if there is no universe? What if the universe is not universal?

I'd argue that it won't change our lives a bit. But that's probably what laypeople thought when Einstein proposed his freak theories way back when.

Speaking of Einstein, a critical part of the theory of special relativity is that nothing can move faster than the speed of light. Last September, scientists had found that a subatomic particle called neutrino can move faster than light. This result was verified with subsequent experiment, although later challenged by critics, including other scientists from the same lab.

Another story from another day, scientists also found that a constant called alpha that makes the theory of electromagnetism may have different values at different places. Granted, we talk about places that are separated by million light years, but it implies that nature's law may vary across the universe.

Naw, I'm not a physicist and actually have no idea what these guys are talking about. But I'm always fascinated with the idea that the universe is held together with series of physics constants. I don't know how else I can put it. It's... divine.

So I don't think these discoveries (which still need to be proved anyway) will affect my day-to-day life. At least, not in my lifetime. But will it affect the way I see God?

  1. Will it affect the dramas in your life?

  2. I believe God is a comedy writer/director. Granted, black comedy sometimes. But still comedy nonetheless :D
